Goals of a Youth Baseball Coach

Your goal and job as a coach is that of a teacher. Basically developing young players baseball skills and their personal development. As a coach you will also influence them in other areas besides just baseball. These life and game learning skills will help our youth become better players and better individuals as a whole.

Coaching Youth Baseball Practice Format

Beginning - The start of practice should be your throwing and catching drills. Break into groups with assistants so more individual attention can be applied.

Some Routine ground balls and fly balls should be down too. This could be three different stations with three assistants monitoring. You could also look up a few different drills for each skill area so you can mix them up and see which ones the players like best.

Middle - Know lets work on something new. Situational Play. We should spend some time on reviewing a previous situation taught and begin a new one.

End - Base running often overlooked but needs attention here so it is not left out. This could also be done in the situational play to allow new base running experiences.

Finish - We suggest finishing with a competition. Last man standing center field fly balls, or ground balls to shortstop. Split into two teams and play a 3 inning game, or a game a wiffle ball just for team building and unwinding.
